I use Trupanion, and while I don’t think it’s the cheapest, they allow you to tailor your plan a lot. I basically wanted disaster insurance for very high expenses with no lifetime caps for an illness, and I was willing to pay higher deductibles. They have paid reliably and quickly on the few claims I’ve had to make.
I originally went with Embrace but found them to be a total scam because they refused to pay out. After more research, I switched to Trupanion through Chewy and have been very satisfied. They respond to claims quickly, and my monthly premiums are locked in a way, only increasing if local vet costs increase, unlike other companies that raise premiums as your pet ages. My first claim with Trupanion had a decision within two days, and the money was direct deposited quickly.
I am happy with Fetch (formerly Petplan) because I can take my dog to any vet in the US or Canada. My plan includes complete dental and behavioral coverage, and if my dog needs hospitalization, it covers boarding.
I use Figo and have since my dog was a puppy four years ago. I’ve only had to file one claim, which they paid after my deductible was met. They also have a free on-demand chat with vets 24/7/365, which has been a godsend.
I chose ManyPets because they don’t have a payout cap, and they cover certain pre-existing conditions as long as they are symptom-free for 18 months. My annual premium is $419.88 (monthly $34.99), and they have approved claims for things like Cytopoint injections.
